Capbreton, San Sebastian, Pamplona, Sardinia.

Hi we’ve been on the road for a week now. So far we have stayed at Capbreton. We didn’t do much, we went to the beach and had dinner right by the water. Then we went to San Sebastian and we stayed at the worst and stinkiest hotel ever. It was in the old part of San Sebastian and I don’t ever want to stay there ever again. It smelled old, like a yucky grandma and vomit. It was noisy outside because there were so many people partying.

After San Sebastian, we drove to Pamplona for the San Fermin Festival. San Fermin festival is the Running of the Bulls. It’s similar to Fête de Bayonne. Everyone wears white and red. We woke up at 5.45 in the morning and walked to the arena to watch the bull runners run into the arena. The running of the bulls starts at 8.00am each morning. They run for a kilometre towards the arena. We arrived at the arena at 6.30. The band came on to entertain the crowd and then the paramedics walked in. When they walked in, everybody cheers. Before the run, they put pictures of the bulls on the big screen with their names and weight. The heaviest bull was 600 kg! There was a countdown when the runners start to run. We watched the runners on the big screen and they came in just after 8.00am. When they come in, some jump over the fence and some stay in the arena because the ones that jump over the fence are scaredy cats and they don’t want to fight with the bulls. The brave ones stay and they release a bull one at a time and sometimes, two at a time. It was awesome and Cohen and Dad were being smart arses because they were clapping for the bulls. I wasn’t happy when I found out that at the end of the festival, they kill 13 of the bulls. I don’t think they should kill them because it’s cruel.

After the running of the bulls, we drove to Barcelona and caught a cruise ship to Sardinia. Sardinia is an island in Italy. So far we have hung out at the beach and there is this awesome hotel called Buddi Hotel. This morning I had a surf with dad and caught a couple of waves and the waves were really gutless. There was almost no waves. I think it is because there is no wind and we are at the Mediterranean Sea. The owner of the hotel is Francesco and he is really nice and the food is delicious. My favourite food is the seafood risotto.

Over the last three days we’ve been to three different beaches. We drove to La Pelosa beach, just past Stintino. Cohen couldn’t swim because he had a rash on his doodle. I went swimming with my sister Tahina and swam out to the buoy. The water was crystal clear.

The next day we drove to Castelsardo and swam between the rocks. We jumped off rocks and dove into the Mediterranean sea. We also went snorkelling and looked for dead sea urchins. We had a picnic on the rocks and ate roast chicken rolls. Castelsardo was really cool but I have tonnes of cuts from the rocks and reef.

Yesterday we drove 2 1/2 hours south to a beach called Cagliari. Cohen called it a waste of time because it was so hot, 36 degrees and the aircon in the car broke and we couldn’t find a hotel. We found a beach called BIkini beach but had to pay to sit on the beach. So we drove back to the other side of the island back to the same hotel, Buddi Hotel that we checked out of on the same day! Francesco kept laughing at us and he was really surprised to see us. Tahina and I played a trick on him and we walked in and said “We came back for the ravioli!”. Seriously, he has the best food. I like being back at this hotel because it is right across the road from the beach and Francesco is very nice.

Tonight we ate our last dinner at Francesco’s hotel. It was very delicious. I ate spaghetti with sea urchins. It tasted very seafoody and I really enjoyed it and ate all of it! I hope to come back to Sardinia and stay at Francesco’s hotel to see him.

Tomorrow we get back on the cruise ship to Barcelona. We are going to wake up at 5.30 in the morning. I’m looking forward to going back on the boat because it is going to be so much fun. The last time we were on it, it was night time and we didn’t get to see a lot of it.

My last day of French School.

Friday 3rd of July was my last day of school. My friends prepared a surprise for me. It was a book filled with drawings and messages about me and to me. Nice messages of course! They gave it to me during the last break of school. They also gave me a bunch of beautiful flowers. It was really really nice because it made me feel happy. I made some really good friends at Ecole Eléméntaire Aristide Briand and I will miss them all, especially Lilou, Maya, Pauline, Prune, Mila, Stella, Ellori, Margot, Jeahnne, Auria, Lucie, Chloe, Winona, Axelle, Noé, Yanis, Luigi, Mae-lou, Erine and Elise. When I walked out of school, my best friends were waiting outside the school gate for me and I asked them why there were all crying. They said it was because I was leaving school and leaving France. We all hugged for a very long time and we were all crying our eyes out, even my mum was crying! I am going to keep in touch with all my friends because I want to see them again. I hope to come back to France in 6 months. If I don’t go back to France in 6 months, I would really like to come here when I’m a teenager and go to high-school here.

School Camp at Labenne.

On Monday 29 June 2015, I went on a school camp to Labenne which is half an hour from our school. We all took our bikes with us and they put our bikes on a truck towed behind a bus. We went for three days and two nights. We arrived on Monday and as soon as we got there we unpacked our bags and got into our rooms. I slept with some of my best friends. They are Lilou, Maya, Pauline and Prune. We stayed in a hotel.

After we settled, we went for a test bike ride for an hour then we came back to eat lunch. Mum packed me some food which was pizza, two nectarines and a small kitkat. When we finished eating lunch, we had free play all afternoon and then we ate dinner. For entree we ate salad and then for main meal we ate rabbit. My friend Prune didn’t tell me it was rabbit until after I ate it. It was the first time I had eaten rabbit and it was delicious! I would eat it again. For dessert we had cherries. After dinner, we just went to bed.

On the following day, we ate cereal for breakfast and then we rode our bikes to the zoo. That day was 46 degrees! At the zoo we saw jaguars, zebras, llamas, wallabies, kangaroos and a tiny bear with a huge tail but I never knew what it was called because I had never seen it before. It was cool to see the kangaroos and wallabies, it reminded me of being back in Berrara in Australia.

After the zoo we rode back to the hotel and played y per viè plaqué which is like bullrush but instead of touching the other person, you have to tackle them down! I was the 3rd last person standing. Almost everyone tried to tackle me! We then rode our bikes to Hossegor to eat lunch. We all had a rabbit sandwich and potato chips then we played some games but everyone got bored of it so we had a water fight! At first the teachers didn’t want us to get wet but in the end, they joined in! I think I was the wettest because Enzo and Flavio kept on wetting me so I teamed up with Mila, one of my best friends and it was awesome! After our water fight, we rode back to the hotel and ate dinner. I cant remember what we ate that night but afterwards, the teachers put on a disco which was really fun because everyone was dancing. We went to bed at 11:00 at night. The next morning we didn’t do much, we just had free play and waited until the bus arrived. When the bus arrived we all got on and drove back to our school. We arrived at school at 4:00pm. All our parents were waiting for us. Before we left the school grounds, the teachers gave us a chocolatine which is a croissant filled with chocolate. I had such a good time at my camp. So thats the end of my blog.

Goodbye!

Judo, Gymnastics and Fête de l’école.

Dancing to Ricochet.

Dancing to Ricochet.

Hi

So much has happened since I last updated my blog. So I’m going to just say it fast before I forget.

I finally got my arm brace off! It came off just before the judo competition but I couldn’t compete because I was still fragile. My judo instructor Raphael still gave me the yellow belt the following week. During that lesson, we did sumo wrestling. I was dressed up in a fat sumo suit. It was so so much fun. I only got to do one round  with Mae-lou because I had to do a play on the same night.

The next thing I want to talk about is my play. At school we have been doing a play with the 6eme B of Enndara which is a high school. In my play, I played Snow White. At first I was going to do a small role but when I was doing the role, my teacher gave me a bigger role which is Snow White. I was happy to play Snow White. We performed the play at  La Salle, Quintao. It’s a big stage with 800 seats. I was excited and I think I performed well. I also did a second play called Les oeufs de Babagou. In english it translates to “Babagou’s eggs”. It’s an African play and we sang and danced. My mum, sister Tahina, brother Cohen and my friend Dylan came to watch me. Dad couldn’t come because he was at work. A year ago, I never thought I would be doing a french play. I had so much fun, I wish I had a bigger role to play.

On the Saturday after my play, it was my gymnastics show. I did a gymnastics routine to a song called “You’re the one that I want” from the movie Grease. I did it with my sister Tahina. We also did a flash mob to the song “Moulin Rouge”. We gave Bidou, our gymnastics instructor a box of chocolates and a bottle of wine because in France, they drink wine a lot.  I will miss gymnastics because it was fun and I learnt a lot. I was just learning how to do a flip on uneven bars. I hope to continue gymnastics when I go back to Australia.

Last week we had our “fête de l’école”. Fete de l’ecole in english is School Party. The school put on games and candy floss, food and drinks for everyone. After the games, all the classes put on a show by performing a song and dance for the parents and teachers. My class did a dance to a song called “Ricochets”. When the all the performances are finished, all the kids sit down at a table to eat with their friends. We ate hot dogs, potato chips, a popper and a compote. I also had a free ice tea because one of my best friends, Pauline’s dad worked at the bar so all my best friends got a free drink. Yes, at school they set up a bar for parents and teachers so they can drink wine and beer on school grounds. They are also allowed to smoke!

When the kids finish eating, it’s the parents and teachers turn to sit down to eat together. When everyone is finished eating, they put on a disco. Cohen was on stage dancing almost all night. This is very different to how my old school in Australia celebrates the end of year because they never did anything! I prefer the end of year celebrations in a French school.
